The Formulate2 Core Components Suite consists of core functionality that has been extracted from the NRC 2001 diet formulation application Formulate2 and encapsulated in stand-alone executable components that function together via a common application programming interface (API). This API also provides functionality that allows a hosting application such as the FMS application FRB, to use Component functions to optimize diets within the NRC 2001 framework and access the AA and MP Calculator.
The Core Component Optimizer operates wholly within the NRC 2001 model framework to deliver absolutely model-accurate, AA balanced diets via a robust, one-step solution process. The AA and MP calculator is an implementation of work done by researchers at the University of New Hampshire in 2003-2004 to extend the NRC model to predict changes in lactation from changes in intestinal supplies of MP-Lysine and MP-Methionine. The Calculator generates gram requirements for MP-Lys and MP- Met based on milk and milk component yields and provides a means of re-factoring the NRC MP requirement based on the concentration of MP-Lys or MP-Met in MP.
